15th JUNE - SSSC News - Keeping up to date with your SSSC Registration
Once registered with the Scottish Social Services Council, there are up to 5 things that all social care workers need to do to keep their registrations up to date.
At Healthcare Plus Recruitment, we understand and recognise the importance of keeping your registration up to date, and it is therefore paramount that as care assistants, you comply with these regulations:
1. Keep the SSSC informed of any changes in your circumstances, however, small. You can do this via your MySSSC account. Please visit the SSSC website to find out what you need to inform the SSSC about.
2. Pay your fees. Once you are registered, you will pay an annual fee to keep your name on the SSSC Register. There are ways in which this can be achieved, for example, setting up a direct debit.
3. Post registration training and learning (PRTL). You have to carry out and record a specified number of hours of training and learning throughout your registration period. Maintaining and developing effective knowledge, skills and values will help you to deliver good practice when working with people who use services, their families and their carers. You can use your MySSSC account to keep a record of your PRTL.
4. Meet your registration condition. A registration condition usually means you did not hold all the qualifications required for the role you are working in at the time of your registration. You will normally have a period of 5 years to gain this qualification (first period of your registration).
5. Renew your registration on time. Before your registration ends, the SSSC will contact you with information on how to renew your registration. It is important that you renew your registration to stay on the Register.
There is a short video on the SSSC website for you to watch which advises you on the above points, to view this please go to:
