"Demand for SVQs expected to rise"
A recent report by the SSSC suggests that a demand for SVQs will rise for people working within Adults and Children's services in the Scottish Social Service sector.
One of the key drivers for SVQ activity is the SSSC regulation requirements for all workers to gain certain qualifications (including SVQs) to register and continue to practise.
There are currently over 50,000 individuals on the SSSC register with a qualification condition. For around 90% of these registrants, an SVQ would meet their requirements for the SSSC registration criteria. In addition to these, a further 30,000 people are expected to join the register by September 2020. This is due to the expansion of early learning and childcare provision and for all Care at Home workers within our industry.
The report by the SSSC will help employers, training providers and other partners involved in workforce development activities.
Healthcare Plus actively promote the importance of gaining qualifications and encourage and support our staff in completing SVQs, continuous learning and development and other learning opportunities for our staff as we believe that these are the fundamentals in providing the best care for our clients and their residents.
