"Review of the PRTL Process for the SSSC
The SSSC has announced that they are reviewing members' post registration training and learning (PRTL) process, which has been in place since 2003.
After hearing some members comments about their PRTL experience, the SSSC want to amend the process and are asking for members' help to shape the new process.
The SSSC want to ensure that all PRTL is clear, proportionate and helps each member to show how their learning is making a positive difference to the way you work and to the people that you support.
In order to achieve this, the SSSC will develop a new standard for continuous professional development and learning. This will set out what is expected of registrants, employers and the SSSC. Along with this, the SSSC want to ensure that their systems make it as easy as possible for all members to achieve their PRTL requirements.
There are 5 test sites currently helping the SSSC out in the ways in which these new standards can be accomplished. The 5 test sites include Elderly care, Nursery settings, The Care Inspectorate and a City Council.
The SSSC will be holding a series of events in 2019 and will be obtaining views from the wider social service sector and will also be consulting on the new draft standard in 2019. The new system will be launched towards the end of 2019.
In the meantime, please continue to record your PRTL and submit in the normal way, as this is still a requirement for the SSSC".
